well today i went down and picked up my new toy.

It's so damn sexy...and fun to drive.

it's a 91 Yota MR2 with the 2.2L stickshift, already has a short shift kit, rims and exhaust, t-tops, 64,000 miles on it, all the power options, and has been well maintained.

I'm working on finding a new motor to start building, then i'll slowly start on that. but for now i'm going to work on making the car a little quieter. exhaust is a little to loud for my taste.

And yes that tip is coming off, it's going to get a different exhaust all together

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeettt CONGRATS dude .... your going to be happy with it..

Add some aftermarket suspension and that car handles beautiful..
I knew one guy that had a White turbo that was modded and hang with my 93 Rx7 around the entrances to the Highways (Curves) ..

engine shots!if your refering to NO2 that's not going to happen. I'd rather have a motor that's strictly motor/boost

mid engines, rule the balance issues. radiator, batteries and some other miscilaneous stuff are in the front. pretty sweet deal.

i assume you dont havea boosted one plus i didnt see fog lights on the front from what i could seee..no hence the 2.2, thee boosted one was a 2.0L 1998cc

the 2.2 was the motor used in the camry and the non turbo MR2.

I didn't want the turbo mr2 because it was pretty week as far as turbo goes. the 2.2 also has great potential for turboing. and i think i read somewere that the 6cyl from the camry will bolt up to the trani.

car looks good.. and I agree 1 inch. would be enough

10-19-2005, 09:20 AM
the 1mz-fe (6 cyl.) will not bolt to the tranny unless your using the e-153 (tranny) for the turbo mr2. the reason is that not only is the e-153 a stronger better tranny, the non turbo tranny can only handle up to 250 hp, and if u were to u the 1mz-fe with that tranny that u have u would have to drill out the flywheel bolt holes.

yeah i read something to this effect on mr2oc last night, i've been on there a lot reading stuff concerning the specific model that i have.

it seems that I can bolt up just about any motor right to what i have right now without any problems at all. kinda crazy, there are over 3 motors (celica, camry and 93-95 mr2)that yota uses that all i would have to do is pull mine out swap the electronics from min to the new one and drop it right back in.

i saw a red mr2 turbo this morning, he kept on sounding off his blow off valve.

i shoulda run him.

what do those things do in the 1/4?

2slo4u
10-19-2005, 02:30 PM
im telling u man toyotas are the best also i just remembered that the retainers are the same in the 5s-fe and 3s-gte so u can use the same retainers and valvesprings and the 5sfe block if i recall is 100mm taller than the 3s-gte so dont think that u can swap 3sgte parts. also the 3sgte head will bolt up if u have i think a 92-95 motor. the 3sgte intake manifold will not bolt up to the 5sfe head so dont think about that. any turbo kit made for the 3sgte will bolt up to the 5sfe only thing that needs to be changed of course is the intercooler piping. the turbo manifolds bolt right up but u will be missing one bolt. the cams are not interchangable due to the fact that the 5sfe is not a true dohc motor whereinfact that it uses web cams. i cant think of anything else been a long day.

you dropped the ball passing on the turbo ones. I don't know what you mean as far as weak. You can rebuild a ct26 to be all the turbo you need. Good luck chosing teh less traveled path and going after a v6 swap.

the max on the ct 26 is 400hp with a new compressor wheel thing.

So having said that....I'd get one....ha ha! :)he probably said that beause he doens't know the engineering behind the car.

most people call them suicide cars because they are so small and potentially if it gets hit hard it wouldn't come out of the accident to well. but yato has designed the car to protect the driver very well. the motor is designed to drop out of the bottom in a rear end collision. and the front is designed to protect the legs of the individual as well.

Well, my clutch is broke in, I'm still waiting for my FCD to get here. That's really the only thing I need to get a real race on, cause right now, I'm fine in 1st-3rd gears with boost, but in 4th gear I hit boost cut......and for use to race, I'll need 4th gear.....lol...you fast bastard! :)

dont the newer gen mr2's only have 1 cubic ft of trunk capacity or something?the new mr2 has storage only in the front but i believe it's considerably more than what mine has, plus there are 2 lockable storage areas right behind the seats on the new ones. which this is the last year for the mr2 as it is. they are taking it away once again.

just did some research on edmunds right now and they say you have 6.x cubic ft of luggage capacity in your car, the mr2-spyder has 1.9 cubic ft and 2 cubic ft total storage capacity. that would make yours bigger by a lot.

I could swear they have a lot more truck space than that.
