View Full Version : Need help....Vtec Problem

The Problem is....i drive for a while and the car runs gret vtec works then after a while i start cruising at around 3k and i get a check engine light then the car wont rev past 6500rpm and the code it shoots is 22 which is the vtec pressure switch. I've already replaced it and it worked fine for 2 days now its doin it again....what could it be the car is 95 teg.....? please help :x:

i just hooked up a oil pressure gauge the mechanical one and my pressure is at about 76-80psi at 3600rpm then when vtec comes in it drops a little to 70psi does this have any affect? is it normal for the pressure to drop like that? today i will check the little filter after work...?

still does it with the new solenoid....what else can it be the ecu????? or the wiring

try calling radio shack they usually are a good help

sounds like an intermittent problem.

check for continuity in the two wires that run to the solenoid

changed all the wiring and it still did it

do you have a vafc 1? check your wiring as well

do you have a vafc 1? check your wiring as wellno i dont its all str8 to ecu... i noticed that the solenoid stays open and when the rpm hits like 2k goin back down to idle you hear the solenoid shut off

i know this is going to sound dumb, but you may not have enough oil in the car. the vtec solenoid works off of oil press and when the oil gets too low, it throwa the CEL and uts the car in a limp mode, killing your vtec. id check that out just in case.
