ok so the wifes cars been breaking down on her she says.. first thing i hear i think oil..
we change it.. seems fine but no long trips
yesterday the s2k got a flat before i left work so i had her pick me up, should of had her bring tools the first time
doh
dies like 10 times on way tehre and a lot on the way home, it will run fine for like a few miles then just cut off.. then start and die within minutes.. the revs just drop to 0 and it shuts off
then after a bit of trying it works for a good while.. eventually teh battery died on us but i figure its from all the hard starts
we change that this morning and drive great for 9 miles.. blam dies and we said fuck it and tow it home
150 bucks gone plus 70ish for the battery.. damn exchange rates
so i think its fuels but not sure what.. 92 civic esi... i mean it sounds decent and i know its either fuel or spark and need to really open it up and look at it but i think its afuel related issue.. been outta fixing hondas fora bit and kinda lost my touch
ideas
Check your terminals, specially your ground wire at the chassis (the one that comes directly from the batter)
Sounds like an electrical problem to me. Can you check your alternator?

but the engine is what dies.. the rest of the car is powered and its got a brand new battery
the car would run fine but the battery would drain in a few days..
I dont think it is an electrical problem...
check your fuel filter, it might not have ever been changed, or maybe the fuel pump has a bad connection to it or something.
that whole deal there just sounds weird man.

Its a Honduh:lawl:
Your description is too vague.
Take spark plug wire and stick a philips inside. Place it on top of a metal surface and turn on the car. You should see a spark everytime that cylinder is supposed to fire. Do that for every cylinder, one at a time.
Check your alternator....turn car on and disconnect battery. If car dies....it your alternator.
If everything else is powered, then yeah its not electrical.
Like Rambone said, check your fuel filter, pump ect ect. Even a leaky injector can cause the car to stall out.
Does it loose power when its ready to die? or does it just shut off? Does it start inmediatly after it shuts off?

Any check engine light coming on? If so, have you checked the codes. Thats what id do first. Listen to the cars ecu, it usually knows whats going wrong with the car. It could be something simple and stupid like a bad sensor somewhere.

fuel pumps been changed well it is but not back in tank, i was waiting on my ride to work cuz i had to get my s2k.. flat tire
and he came when i was about to put it back in, good thing i kept old b series parts
fuel filter is something i will def change and something it prob needs
when the car dies the rpms just drop to zero then back up then off.. everything else is powered
i can start it right back up but sometimes i have to struggle with it and sometimes i dont
if the car is cool or hasnt been used for a bit it works fine...
manny thanks i know the spark plug trick and that is one thing we want to change anyhow ima pull them tonight and cehck them out but they are like 3-5 quid a piece here thats like almost 8 bucks a plug
for no name ones
fuck that.. she goes to the us on the 25th and comes back the 16th ima have her get some ngks for both our cars
john the cars had a cel since we bought it, i might pull it but its a honda and they always have cels ahhah
its ran fine for months...
idk if it could be the shitty auto tranny or not.. im not to good with auto trannies

manny if the alt was bad the car would die .. i thought the alt just charged the battery?
never had alt issues so im not a alt guy.. learn me on it
ill try that disconnect stuff.. i can just remove the negterminal or do i need to remove both

If you have a bad alternator the car can just shut off on you. It is something worth looking at.

new pump is in, i had some older bkre6s laying around that looked better then hers so i swapped them in
though her plugs werent all that bad
they had a wierd sticky browish red something on them, had the smell of oil but it wasnt fresh and it wasnt wet
the chambers were clean for the most part, i might change the valve cover and spark plug gaskets becuase you could see they were old.. i got a lot of sludge/oil on the front of the tranny and side of the block... so there is a leak somewhere but the oil levels are good
it is an old car
the alternator test was fine, removed the power from teh battery adn she stayed running...
i could def hear if it was running on 3 cyls.... which its not becuase it would sound like a fright train.. going to do some 100k maintenance but other then that still nothing screams at me
