does it matter which way the pin faces on the bulb... im making bulbs for my stock housings. its convenient to have the pin facing down .. is there a specific way they have to go
It depends on the bulbs you are using, what is the bulb number?

also try to make a casper shield to reduce glare and have better light aim..or get projectors..=)

those casper shields = H4 applications only.
And you should have gotten D2R instead of D2S...
D2R = HID's that are prepared for non-projector headlamps (like the old Lexus IS)
D2S = HID's that are HID/bi-xenon projector ready headlamps (every BMW/Audi etc etc)

Um... what? lol... HID's = one beam unless they have a reflector that aims the beam higher to make it seem like hi-beams... in other words one filament (even though HID bulbs don't have filaments like halogens do)
What I meant is that the D2S bulb is mainly used for HID projectors... while D2R bulbs are for HID ready headlamp reflectors like the IS and G35's... the Casper Shields only come (and have only seen and I have a set) in H4 applications... if your setup is H4 then you can get those adaptors for your car but you'll loose the hi-beams as I did.

Xenon= Single beam
Bi-Xenon= Dual Beam
Bi-Xenon is achieved thruogh and HID projector or Bulb (usually aftermarket), which has a mechinism that makes the a piece of metal go up or down.
The pin thing on an HID bulb should be facing down, otherwise if its facing up or any other way it lower the output. I noticed when I had used HID bulbs (way back then) and they were upside down the output was more yellow then pure what.
For HID retrofits, if you can't use H4 "casper shields" then u can simple make your own. they work just as well. Go to home depo and get a type of metal called "flash metal" its very thin and will do the job, plus its easy to bend by hand.

I might have to try that for the HIDS in my expedition. Im sure they would light up the road much much better.
I have seen retrofits with projectors done however, and the difference is light years compared to just slapping on a kit. I love doing/seeing retrofits. I actually have a couple of pairs of bi-xenon projectors right now.

It would light up the road better and cut down the glare that is put out to other drivers. :thumbup:
retrofits are great in non-hid equip'd cars. especailly on civics that have high beam and low beam built into one bulb from the factory. i retro'd a set of bi-xenon and they look really good. too bad 1 of my ballast blew out, so if any1 has a set or just 1 ballast lmk i need it!
