ok so im almost 99% sure i am fucked...heres the deal. Last night im checking out classes on damn panthersoft because i was gonna pick them and register last night before it was to late, earlier that day i had met with an advisor and knew what classes to pick. Im not sure how long registrations been open but all 4 of the categories of subjects i look for...none of the classes i want to take are available!!!! either they are not offered or are in the Biscayne bay campus. My four classes i need/want to take this term are:

EVR 3013 (only one class available!)
A humanities w/ writing (lots of choices yet none are available wtf!)
A societies and Identities (same as above:mad:)
Eco 2023 (only 2 classes and both conflict with work)
:mad2:
Is this a common problem? Im only a sophomore. So what the hell do i do? Can i just not go to school this term without consequences? I really need to go to school though to graduate on time! Thanks in advance!

why'd u had to meet with an advisor, when i was at fiu 02-05. i only had to go to the advisor like twice?

well it is a common problem not to get all the classes you want/need. all you can do is wait and see if anyone drops them so keep checking back hourly.

well since i hadn't been in school all summer (dropped a class early on) so i needed some advice on what classes to choose for fall. Anyway the classes i need didn't even show up in the search! or is that because maybe full classes dont show up?

people will most likely drop classes the first week.. you just have to wait and check periodically.

Ok looks like thats what im gonna have to do. But am i right in thinking that filled classes dont show up in the class search? Because if i can find out how to see filled up classes, i was thinking maybe i can PM the prof of those classes and see if i can get a override and get into the class!

filled classes never show up in the search because... u cant sign up for them. lol. your doing an open class search, so it only shows classes with open seats.. just check back every now and then.. i changed my schedule 3 times in the past 2 days and im about to change it again later tonight. so u never know..

Actually there is a way to look for closed/filled sections: go into view schedule of classes and in the additional search criteria remove the checkmark from the box next to "Open classes only".

i never had a problem all 4 years i went to fiu with classes being filled because I always picked them way before hand and had back up classes. The only time I was ever worried was sr year when I needed this one class to graduated and I registered early so again I didnt have a problem.

Sucks for you guys for not being prepared

yea thanks for the tips everyone, i appreciate it and ill keep on searching. And yes its true i was late to register...but only because i couldn't find out the damn registration date! lol. Damn Panthersoft! If i knew the date that registration opened i would have registered within that first week but oh well

Dannycam: i feel you man, I cant stand the damn school sometimes i wish i just went to MDC. A friend of mine is now going into his 2nd 5th year term for just one more fucken class because of this damn school. He was supposed to have graduated two terms ago but he keeps getting fucked over :(

miami dade does the same thing. fiu is a great school its just what you make of it.

I hear people say

1. miami dade the teachers would do this that and the other

this is college you aren't really learning anything if the teachers are coddling you and making it easy on you. at fiu the teachers are there to help you but they arent going to go up to you and be hey you need help. its your responsibility to contact them and meet up with them if you are having an issue. its not high school they treat you like an adult.

2. panther soft sucks

learn how to use it its bassically the same program every one uses.

3. all the classes closed up

pick your classes earlier and dont get stuck like every one else

4. this teachers hard

study harder

Ive taken some of the hardest teachers in FIU and went through all 4 years anything you guys are bitching about is usually your own fault. I never had a problem because I was always prepared. I think I ended up graduating in under 3 years with honors. Im not the sharpest tool in the shed I just put up the hard work so when I see people bitching about trivial shit I get mad because I made it through it with out bitching

yeah this is true man, thanks for the advice. Im a lazy ass and I do take the blame for why im in this situation for the most part. just got to make the best of it i guess

Well the last day is the 24th, looks like ill just have to incur the late fee and do what iLLest and the rest said, to just check back after the drop date and pray a class i need is now not only available but also at the time i need it (need to work). I was looking at all the classes today (not just open) but realized it was useless till ppl start getting kicked out for not paying on time.

What makes the constant searching i have to do even harder is that tho i only need 4 classes, 2 of them are not specific: just have to pic one humanities and one societies and there are like 15 choices for each and i got search every one lol!

This wasn't a complaint BTW just talking about how my situation is going, wish me luck guys and thanks for all the help so far!

i was somewhat in the same predicament.. i just checked back every chance i got and i saw one seat opened in a class i needed at like midnight one night and i jumped on it.. checking back constantly, is really your best bet to getting the class you need.

people constantly change their schedules before the term begins... like me.. lol. so theres always a seat opening, u just have to catch it.

Well the on the 24th i checked out the classes at the last minute since i was so certain i wasn't going to school this term and what do ya know? there were 1 or 2 seats for some classes available now! I picked three classes on fri and am gonna choose a 4th one right now. Now i have a question, on Monday when my classes start do i go to class even though i haven't paid yet and will pay at the cashiers office afterwards? I couldn't pay online, damn panthersoft is having another problem with online payments.
