Getting a project car

My mother and I are getting my dad a 79 MG Midget for X-Mas.
This is what the car looks like incase no one knows what I'm talking about...
http://www.mgcars.org.uk/pics/hsu.jpg Fully restored these cars sell for over $5000, the one we're getting him needs some body/rust work done, new exhaust, fix the wiring in the engine bay, it's a mess...but the engine runs perfect. Can't wait till we modify the engine or do an engine swap...which is very possible in that huge ass engine bay.

man a k20 with a turbo in that car would be insane. v8 would be to heavy. on the 7thgen which i own few people have the k20 with turbo pushin like 20 psi makin over 500whp. running 11's all day. now a k20/turbo in that lil car omg. s3x

with a small block chevy you could do that and more without forced induction, you wont even have to rev past 6000 rpm.

Come on everyone we all know that car needs a 2JZGTE. I know that car. My dad use to have a white one. Wanted to give it to me but figured that the way people drive in Florida, I'd have been run over by a 18 wheeler by now. So he sold it for like 2g's I believe. I use to think it was the funniest car ever since it came with three wipers. My dad also had the optional trunk spoiler/luggage rack on his own. Wow that pic took me back about 9 or 10 years.lol

damn...lol...I was thinking an old skool datsun/nissan engine. It is RWD and the whole idea is to keep it light weight.
I went today to pick it up...actually tow it cuz it needs a new brake cylinder and the tag. Regardless, I paid $700 for it and the engine starts right up...but right now there's a short somewhere on the distribution block so it turns off when u turn on the lights. Another amazing thing is that there are many catalogs out there where you can replace and get any part you want for a pretty good price. Will be a nice restoration.

yeah my dad had about three of those catalogs for newer parts. if it needs to be kept lightweight then you just got a second vote for rotary.
