tire question
need new rear tires for the pickup.
right now its on 245/70/17s
i found a great deal on some 275/60/17s
instead of the height being 70 its 60. u guys think itll make it look weird? the truck sits alot higher on the back but itll be like 10mm shorter on the wheel. thing is itll be ALOT wider. should i get em or stick with the same 245/70s?

yeah im thinkin the same shit. it comes out to the exact same price as getting the 245s. and they look wimpy as shit on the truck. i might as well go with wider ones.

well the 10mm difference is not going to be noticed a lot. maybe by you but not others. and the wider tire is going to increase wear.

well efficiency wise the wider tire causes more area to meet the asphalt, causeing a higher traction rate. the ratio of traction to tire dimensions is proportionate to the displacement of the wear of the tread.

bs. i had 275 on the rear and 245s on the front of my mustand and the front tires didnt last as long as the rear

did u read the tread wear on each of the tires? it is usually a 3 digit number ranging from about 200-600. higher numbers are longer lasting tread.

i was under the impression that the middle number on tire size was the percentage of the first number ... meaning ... 245/70/17 is for a 17rim obviously and 245mm wide and 171.5mm high???
so the hight difference b/w 245/70/17 and 275/60/17 is only 5.5mm

this is why a 225/50/15 tire is taller than a 205/50/15 tire?????? <--(honda sizes)

nope. the numbers are all in Millimeters.

first number is tire width
second is tire wall height
third is the rim size
