i dont know why the little tube/vacuum/oil return thing would be so far down there on a CAI, it should be closer to the TB.

outside of that.. its got a blue hose for a red pipe, its tacky?

CAI > Ramok there is a huge problem with this statement! Ram air is a suped up version of Cold Air Intake sytems.

Lets clearify this a little more. Cold air systems are designed to bring in cold air to the engine bay so that the motor can breath cooler air then what is in the engine bay, ram air is just a way to do exactly that and add presure to it on higher speeds.

therefore in conclusion Ram Air > Cold Air Intakes

in my opinion, both are snake oil.

stop right there

yeah, ram air have the advantage of better throttle response than a CAI system, but when the engine bay heats up, the benefits of it will be lost. I know that a heat shield can be installed to reduce this symptom, but your engine would still be sucking less than ´´cold´´ air once the car is running for a while. On the performance side of it, air temperature have a greater impact on performance than pressure.

On the performance side of it, air temperature have a greater impact on performance than pressure. If you design it right the heating issue you talk of wont be a problem. for trucks like my 03 chevy s-10 many have made a ram air system that comes in from the fender. and for the MR2 one that grabs air from above the car.

it boils down to making it right tobegin with. and most "cold air intakes" aren't really that. all they are is larger piping that reduces the restrictions of the stock systems with a higher flow filter. normally they have no housing to make them a true CAI, therefore are pointless, all they do is suck in the heat from the engine bay in a less restrictive manner.

I still say Ram Air > CAI

well, if they come from the fenders, combining them with their short piping, I guess you are right.

you win.......................this time.

I hate you man. lol

short ram > florida rain. ;)that's why you build a dump with a ruber door. water falls out the bottom without a problem. just can't make it big otherwise you end up loosing the benifit of having the ramsetup.

a short ram is just a pipe with a filter on it that sits in the engine bay sucking in the hot air, ram air is a system thatw ould go mounted onto a hood scoop, opening in a head light, behind a grill or somewhere that would force air into the intake at speed.
