Well im going home and as im pulling into my block i hear this loud ass rev go by me. It was a little red hatch with one headlight that was not a bright as the other Usuallay i would not mind but its so nice out and the car was pulling real nice so i said what the hell. So im like at about 4k in 2nd gear and we punch it.

He jumps about 1 1/2 cars in front of me im like WTF :run: this is no regualr hatch. when i go to third we both shut down because of the light.

When its green we punch it again but this time i miss my 3rd gear. So he brakes and gets ready for me again. We go at it and i miss 3rd again! im so pissed by now but the guy was cool about it so we turn around and run it agian. We both from about 2nd gear again and this time he gets the same 1 1/2 cars on me but this time i land 3rd and by the top of 4th i had a car on him already, and pulling. ( this is at about 85 90 ish)

When he catches up and we both slow down i give him his props and i ask him what he has done to the car and he tells me its a GSR swap. Gave him the thumbs up and went home

Cool guy i think it might have been more even if he did not have another person in the car

Finally got my 1st real run in the car.

I dont want to turn this in to a honda V.S. insert brand here thread just posting a good run

The kid in the hatch?? I think im the one that needs to work on the driving....

The stock mounts flex a lot. Its not that Ill grind 3rd, it wont even catch. Im getting my new mounts real soon. Also it dose not help that the shifter feels like one of those pick ups with the throws being far and the shifter being super tall.

u need a short shifter ,...

i like the svt foci ....i almost got one but went with the se-r instead
u should look into the jrsc kit, it'll make it a fun daily driver.

and i agree , the dude in the hatch didnt know how to drive a properly swapped b18 in a hatch should be pretty quick and top end should be really nice. so u either got him on a bad day or he lied about his swap maybe (b16)....either way u won ...good run

how so? what if it was a stock b18c us spec, with its weak ass 170hp. peak power isnt gonna be 7,999 rpm like b16's, or the other variety of b18c's. there would be no point to revving it out, and the manifold on that motor screams mid-range power, like the reason he would have had that little jump at the beggining.

what kind of engine is in that ford? 4 banger 2 litre?

I4 2.0L with CVVT ( same shit as i-Vtec) and dual stage intake runners with a 6 speed tranny

and the 300lb weight difference in the heavist pre 01 hatch (EK)

so, it has vct(variable cam timing) on the intake cam, and variable valve timing(3 cam lobes per cylinder) on both cams?

It was in a EG

" variable cam timing on intake camshaft"

that is definetely not even close to being i-vtec or, even vtec. the vtc is what is added to vtec to make i-vtec, and that is what the motor has.

cast-iron block, precision die-cast aluminum head, cast aluminum pistons, forged steel connecting rods, nodular cast-iron crankshaft.

not bad, but if you want big power, its gonna need a new crank, and some pistons. other than that, seems like a cool little car. have fun beating slow hondas, and make sure to rub it in.

Hatch should of won. Poor driving on both parts.

describe to me how the hatch was driven incorrectly. only the poster mis-shifted. again, most dudes swap over motors and leave em completely stock. the focus has equivalent hp with more torque.

with the wieght differences as they are, the hatch had the advantage, as it pulled away at first. but, as the two cars go into higher gears, putting more load on the motors, and with wind resistance, the torquey car pulled away. sad, but true.

im all honda. i love me my top end power, but, stop hating, and assuming the hatch driver can't drive because he lost. if anything, he is a good driver, considering he waited for the dude in the focus whenever he misshifted, and didn't claim a win as quickly as your typical ricer would.

SVT Fukus is a nice car. Buddy of mine had one a while back, I got to drive it, very nice, almost "Honda-esque" in power delivery though because it was gutless in the lower/mid-range and the power came on nicely up top.

That being said, I regularly beat that SVT Focus in my then *stock (I had a CAI) Integra GSR, and he wasn't the only one I beat. So... congrats on the win, but I wouldn't bet on making a habit of beating GSR swapped Civic's.

Actually, the B16 peaks at 7600rpm, the B18C1 on the other hand peaks higher, at 7800rpm to be exact.

If you don't rev it, you go nowhere, just like the 'weak ass' 170hp SVT Focus.
