View Full Version : minimum post count for garage sale.
ive been with fss for a while now. im not as active as i am on 305sr or fuelslut.net but i do post up every once in a while. i just learned that i have to have a minimum 50 posts to post in the garage sale. i guess this was a new rule. i think it should be reduced to like 10 or 25 because unless a board is real active then making 50 posts could take a few days man. and thats for a real active poster. hell i barely even post up on 305sr like i used to. i prolly have like 15 posts on a GOOD WEEk. any way we can reduce this? please? i know its only a few posts away for me but im sure that would discourage other ppl. im not trying to rant just giving my input i was a bit upset when i couldnt sell my radio.

There are other forums that have minimum post counts too. I'm sure admin will take your suggestion on the # of posts necessary into consideration. Though, I'm sure u can understand the purpose behind it.

What about the people who are registered and dont post alot, I mean I know its for the good of the site but what aboutthe people who have been around for awhile but dont post. Ive been on honda-tech for 4 years and only have 230 posts because I go there mostly to read, learn, find meets, and sell things. Same thing when ISS was around, I didnt have a big post count but I was always on the site, very much like this site....just some thoughts

yea its going to take me forever to be able to sell my things im ready to sell now but i understand things need to be a certain way so i'll deal with it. at least this post gets me one closer to being able to sell, though i refuse to postwhore...

i definitely agree....
the admins are probably going to say that there are many threads that you can post on but maybe to me or us, they arent any of the most interesting threads to talk about.
it is difficult to post here because there arent that many good topics, and posting in the for sale section doesnt count. i am very active in here but in the FS section. i hardly post anything elsewhere. but the admins see things differently. I am trying to sell my car and turbo kit and i thought it would be a good idea to post it here because of the honda community. but i cant because now i am blocked, so it makes it more difficult. and reucing this post count will not help me. lO.ol you have a very point, maybe they will check into your suggestion.

oh plus we had to restart our post count when these new people took over, which killed alot of members....

I'm sure you realize we understand your opinions views. 50 posts really isn't that much and you don't need to postwhore to get there. Honda Tech has had a minimum post count forever, and the people there just deal with it. I know I did. The minimum post count to be able to post in for sale is being reviewed by the admin / staff. Just be patient and keep in mind that their decision(s) are final. :)

its bassically to get rid of the people who are just here to sell shit and dont want to contribute to the forum. if you havent contributed more then 50 posts then your perogative isnt to go on here and have fun its to get other buisness done

gosh u suck at life. Night Crew is referred to the people who post on forums during the night time, hence EVERY FORUM HAS A NIGHT CREW.
just because you were on superhonda when you first heard that term doesnt mean they invented it :slap:

well shit what can I say the site has declined ALOT but when it was at its peak it was 1000 times better then any honda site that exhists now but yeah honda tech is the place to go if you need answers. The problem with superhonda is when the site went down in 2001 they lost all of the tech they had posted up and alot of the mods and people that knew what they were doing went and made other sites. Because of that the site has never really got back on its feet

no it didnt suck then. It didnt get bad till after 2001 before that it was the source for any honda info. The only reason honda tech is as big as it is now was because superhonda crashed in 2001 if it didnt more then half of your current member base would be posting on superhonda right now and hondatech wouldnt be shit.

honda-tech>all other honda sites
50 posts is still high. especially when you check general chat section and you see dumb posts like some kid in a jetta worrying about his side markers being blue instead of yellow and making him look like a ricer lol (sorry extremum)
fact of the matter is that i barely know people on this site the way i know them on 305sr or other forums like fuelslut.net or southfloridastangs.net especially since its mostly muscle car oriented. i understand ur intents on putting a minimum post count but there are people who barely get online because FSS isnt top priority on their lives because of work, school, gf, bf, getting laid, going out, fixing their CARs, ETC ETC ETC instead of going to general chat or some their local chat area and posting around on the car of the year and what not when they discuss it in person
50 posts is still high. especially when you check general chat section and you see dumb posts like some kid in a jetta worrying about his side markers being blue instead of yellow and making him look like a ricer lol (sorry extremum) well regardless the post count to be able to buy or sell will not change anytime soon.
We implemented this method to help deter the number of stolen items being sold on this site, same reason why HIDs are not permitted to listed in the WTB or forsale areas. So far we have been rather successful, we are not going to put our users the ones that make this place what it is in a position were they have to spend time in court for buying a stollen item. I realize that this may be a PITA to those that have legally obtained items to sell, but buy forcing people to post in the rest of forum not only does it help the site but it helps people to get to know you better thus you will gain trust from the rest of the board and your sales will be reflected in the fact that you have gained some level of trust with the rest of the users of the site.
If we didn't have so many people wish to steal and rob in this world then it wouldn't be an issue, but that's not the case to many people feel the need to make a profit off of items that don't even belong to them and I personaly have no desire to allow that kind of SHIT on this site. The hell with a theif.

no offense but if you're more active on the other sites... why not post it there and be done with it. i rather post stuff for sale on a site i'm more familiar with than one i barely post on. aside from the fact people will be less likely to think you're a flake, but you'd probably know the other buyers/sellers better as well.

I agree i think 50 posts is a lil too much. I was banned from the for sale section because i decided to be a post whore. If i would have known this i would have only posted in thhings that were interesting to me.

No, then you werent there pre 2000 in fact I remember the day that mike made hondatech and was trying to steal members from superhonda and convincing the moderators to join the site and thats why honda tech is sensored out of the forum the forum didnt even get big untill superhonda went down thats when that site took off
hijacked thread....
alst im saying is that it took me from when fss first started for me to make like 50 posts which was a few months ago if i remember. i used to be on fss before it was for sale and i would troll the for sale section all the time. only reason i didnt really post on fss much was cuz of the EFR vs PTZ vs 305SR bullshit that kept going around. i just avoided the bullshit. its pretty much over now and i dont give 3 shits about it. whatever. i made my 50 posts. i dont care anymore. for all the newbs. happy posting. :)

no but they invented the online honda community and that is fact because there was no other honda sit in 1995 when the site started I dont think you can name one forum that was around since 1995 for automotive enthusiasts and is still around thats 10 years ago and they were one of the first forums to use Vb because Mike_Sho helped program the original version

50 posts is a little high but I can see where the admins are coming from... I personally like to read and learn rather than post ridiculously lame shite like "I am bored now..." or in this case "blah blah invented the internet or we did it first"... w/ the execption of maybe a couple of posts because I wanted to get my name out there(feel out the locals) that is why my post count is low.
Now consider this.. .the members that don't make useless posts like those mentioned above but just read/listen and post when it is appropriate(ie. actually usefull information); shouldn't they be able to sell something regardless if there post count is not as high as 50.
Either way I really like this site so I am not dissing it... just my 2 cents.

Though this is a decent argement I have to disagree with you. I do appreciate the fact that yo don't post mindless nonses, but a little participation in some of the threads that aren't totally auto related would help people to know you a little better.
And with your statement that you made i'm sure that your opinions would most likely be cut and dry on whatever issue, but remember this is a community, and communities can only truly succeed with the participation of all members

The forsale section is a privaledge of this site. It's intent is to give those whom are members a way to trade/sell parts amung other members who contribute to the forum.
If you wish to up your post count, then you need to post in other places other than the forsale section.
