the legs where skinnier,, and the two fron one extend pass is head... something like the rear legs of a grass hopper..

in the movie.. they were trying to figure out where it came from.. one kid was talkin that he felt that the earth has some stuff hidden underwater and under ground...

the alien/monster appeard after a reported eearthquake that caused a oiltank ship to capsize.. or caused the a oiltank ship to capsize...

i personally think it fell from outer space.. the impact caused the earthquake.. the thing came to land and starting fukin things up.. i wana watch it again so i can clear up some questions i got..

like.. what happended to that girl when they put her in that tent and blood just splashed against the sides of the tent like she popped or something.. (that got bit by one of the little alien thingys)

This evening I went to check out Paramount's CLOVERFIELD once again and while enjoying a seat next to the one covered in vomit (seriously) both Slice and I noticed something interesting in the background of one of the scenes of the film. Highlight the following for the details:

In the FINAL, FINAL scene of the film we see Beth and Rob on a ferris wheel at Coney Island. He pans the camera to his left to shoot the ocean and if you look to the far right of the screen you will see what appears to be the monster falling out of the sky and into the water (see image here). IN AN UPDATE: B-D reader 'afireinside' tells us, "JJ stated himself that the monster has been down at the bottom of the ocean for thousands of years. What fell into the ocean at the end of the movie was a satelitte. If you pay attention to the viral marketing, Taragutu's site states that one of their satelittes fell out of orbit and was lost. This is what woke up the monster from its dormant state." You be the judge....

In addition, at the end of the credits an audio clip reveals that the monster is not yet dead.

I think it was done well considering the viewing perspective they were going for.

granted a personal video camera would not have survived all the shaking and dropping that it went through, plus the sounds and images would have been somewhat distorted with the scenes when the military was at close range in the street having the shootout with the main monster.

I still think it achieved it's goal. Plus the scene at the end when the dude and his girl die under the little bridge in the park during the "operation hamerdown" bombing was pretty cool.

and IMO, that small splash at the end of the movie could not have been the monster. The size of that monster would have created something alot bigger than a "splash" if it were to fall into the ocean from outer space!

saw it yesterday and thought it was awesome!!! but supposedly that is a the monster dropping from the sky in the water. It probably didnt look like a big splash because it was so far away, but then again its just an assumption. Other critics say its a Satellite dropping out of the sky and then awakening the monster......who knows , all i know is that it was worth the $9!
