CCW Class Announcement

[Copper]

I just wanted to go over some things before we attend the class, just to make sure that everyone will be on the same page.

1. Please be there before 1pm. Some people are meeting up before so find out, but you can always go straight there. Would be nice if everyone arrives at or before 12:45pm the latest.

2. If you are bringing your own firearm, make sure that it is in it's case, unloaded and clips are empty. It needs to be visible, you cannot walk into a gun range with your weapon concealed....they will shoot you. 35 times probably.

3. All you need is your Driver License. And $50. No DPL membership cards.

4.These are friends of mine. So i would greatly appreciate if everyone shows a level of maturity.

5. Let's have fun and enjoy the class. The people there are all knowledgeable and cool people so you can ask them anything.

They usually charge $85 for the class. Since my gf is bestfriends with the owners sister we got a discounted price of $50. BTW our instructors name is Ivan and im told that he is one of the best around.

Yea. You dont have to send it in right away though. You can send it later when you have the money. The $117 dollars is the state fee for the license. The good thing is that its valid for 7 years now too up from 5.

Exactly..

There's no need to rush, noone is going to force anyone to get the permit right away. The CCW class certification is good for 1year. So if people dont want to waste too much money they can just do the class and the paperwork if they want to, and send all the documentation in much later with the fee. Im personally just doing the class and the paperwork then mailing the stuff after i get paid next week.

there is no best gun. Every gun has it's goods and bads. Don't worry thoses new s&w are great. But I think .40's are to big for u. And like others have said, WTF are u going to do with that in the kitchen!!!

On a side note: if u wanted to save your life would u want the most bullets or the one that always works? Revolvers are 100% and the only ones and trust my life with. 6 bullets is enofth for me

i heard some bad things about those S&W which is why i went with the M&P model instead... but the .40 shouldnt be too bad for you, my mom shoots my .40 with no problem. maybe the .45 would def be a little over the top, but it also depends on the gun's design and how it fits your hand.

Ok to help clarify a bit....

40 vs 9mm

Todays date you can get +p and/or +p+ loads which will have just the same if not more stopping power than that of the .40 cal load.

Many agencies are switching to 9mm's AGAIN because 40's are not easily controlled in a rapid/double tap scenario. It a heavier ammo therefore causing a heavier pistol when fully loaded, also has more of a kick (depending on design of firearm). they are also switching back because their passing rates have declined as shooters are NOT qualifying to state standards. Additionally cost of ammunition and normally 40's are a tad bit more expensive than 9's, as they need to be more reinforced.

.40 Caliber rounds by nature are strong take down rounds. The FBI had these rounds created because the 10mm was TOO POWERFUL so they needed something stronger than a 9mm (take down power) but less powerful than a 10mm with the similiar effects of the 45 minus the weight and brutality.

You can purchase +p/+p+ loads for 40's and have tons more power, yet your firearm must be designed for those loads if not you can DIE, or have severe bodily injury.

I have a 9mm SAXD 3inch SubCompact, and a 40 HKP2000SK (subcompact) 3 inch barrel,

I can say that both rounds are very controllable. The design of the HK is carried over from the USP series (spring within a spring, along with the Hexagonal barrel). HEX shaped barrels not only increase muzzle velocity, they also create more twist therefore allowing a more accurate shot and reducing recoil felt by shooter.

At the end of the day, I have to say that the shooter will determine the accuracy of firearm used.

Many people buy a firearm and NEVER EVER practice with it, It's like buying a knife to cut a rope but then using your teeth to accomplish the knifes job, very redundant. It's best to purchase and get comfortable with that weapon as one day it may save your life and or someone elses.

I had a 45 saxd and loved it. I shot more accurate with it than my boy did with his 9mm px4. BTW people rounds do affect accuracy dramatically, depending on the type you are shooting. So try to practice with rounds you carry or something similiar in quality.

We went to Trail Glades to shoot on Sunday (BTW that place is badass) with my dad's friend who has alot of guns. I shot a rifle that he custom built worth over $4k. The thing shot winchester 300 mag rounds. Damn thing nearly took my shoulder off. 1600 yard range capability.

We should be picking up an H&K in a few weeks since we shot a few of them on Sunday and they just felt perfect in every aspect.

- my picture with the date (w/ my name and social security number on it)
- a personal check for $117.00 with "CWL" as the note

paper clipped it all together licked and taped the envelope up, weighed it at work, printed out the corresponding stamp and insured it and sent it out
