We met for a friendly run last night. Very nice group of guys.
We agreed to run from 75 mph to 170+ mph.
The Viper is a 1999 Black GTS on HRE wheels. Viper has Blower and 150 shot, Jetta has lots of power, and has run in the 9s at over 150 mph.
We got an even start, and by 170 mph the Viper was in front 5 cars.

Apples to oranges. Both are fast cars. You have a 10 cylinder supercharged car with nitrous and a 4, maybe 6 cylinder (i believe, i do not know much about chris green) and you would expect different. i guarentee the jetta still cost less than the viper. both very nice cars in my book.

Your car definitely does (you don't do a damn thing unless you're standing behind it, pushing it).
I've done passes down Moroso, it's a fun tool, but it's a tool. You learn nothing about driving on a 1/4 mile track. I'm very happy that you have a fast daily driver.
As a drag car, no, it's not that fast. 11.8 @ ~130 is very respectable for a daily driver, but you are hardly in a position to start talking trash about a guy who has built a 9 second fwd car. There's a big difference between 11.8 and 9.8, and you should know that.

that race with the r1 wasnt everything that u saw it to be, u got a 5 second vid of the cars and bikes slowing down.
they propositioned the rider with one race, then changed it as they were reaching speeds and the jetta wasnt near its powerband while the r1 was.
the jetta is a well built car, but i dont understand the point of building a drag car then taking it too the streets for high speed highway runs

Personally, I don't know anyone who's paid anything in research (unless, you wanna add time to the equation), and they have very fast cars, that they've built on their own. As for parts - yeah well, if you wanna play, you gotta pay.
However, you don't need a spend anything on knowledge, which IMO is priceless, and gained through hands-on experience and reading.
the price paid for knowledge is trial and error. the first combo doesnt always work the best.

i think that's pretty obvious. but money isn't everything. you dump $$$ into making a car "fast" and neglect suspension, traction, tuning. the car probably won't perform anywhere near its potential.

thats why i said it cost $$ to set up a car... traction comes from suspension & chassis tuning...which both cost $$ to buy and have setup unless you are a chassis builder/tuner.

Let me explain something to you... there IS a reason why the stock suspension & outlaw 10.5 races are only 1/8 mile at moroso.. CAUSE THE TRACK SUCKS.
