I don't know if this is such a good question. Some people don't like certain types of hip hop. But it is based on your own opinion so maybe its not all that bad. I just find this all lil crazy. I have no "worst group/atrist ever" I dont listen to old school unless its west coast and a lil bit of bigge. There hasnt been a cd that I've listened to and smashed it because it sucked so bad.

I will have to agree, but I think is because he was the only thing on the west coast that could go against biggie (+ the ''face of the west'' image that they gave him only because he had a grudge with Notorious, the east side king.)

explain overrated?

Hip Hop is change over the years from the RUN DMC- the ROOTs KRS-one

rapping about the govenment ,aids, was a issue then...

but the rebirth of the new hip hop era like BIG and Pac Changed everything in retrospect of Hip Hop Life on the Streets now.

now that we've hit the 2000.. well hip hop has truely lost its ways

But you have to give Pac and Big theres respects.. esp since there death and Jam Master J

Well first i dunno how you came from left field mantioning jam master J...
But anyway...yeh il admit 2pac n bigge made a new era of hiphop...yeh they did...the era where everyone wants to just make money and shoot each other up...and talk about how grimey there hood is..and talk about how many guns they have, to be ready for next fool that tries to jack them for there dope stash. I think the re-birth in hiphop was around the time when jeru the damaja made that track "playin yaself" then years later when ruckus records released all there joints and literaly split hiphop and half.

this is all my opinion...but refer to the boondocks episode "Gangstalicious"..and thats exactly how i feel it is nowadays.

verdugo should know bout that episode :lawl:

pac spoke on some real shit every once in a while, but he was too much like the rest of his "homies". "Cali till i die! Wesside!!" I aint tryna hear u talk about how much the West Coast ridin, ESPECIALLY since im from NY. Sorry, but Big knew how to put a story together like no other. You could listen to his track and know EXACTLY what he was talking about in ur mind's eye.

Even in the "shoot-em-up gangsta" era of hip-hop you could still find some that were true to the game. But now? wit bullshit like Nelly...i have no idea how nelly WASNT on my worst list..fuck lissenin to how much cars you got and all the ice in yo mouf...in my previous life you would be left without all that walkin down da wrong street, nah mean? it just seems like right now the money done fucked da game up . Rap done went commercial and everybody's bout making money off they tracks instead of making a message, and letting THAT reach ppl. Thaz y i respect Jada for his "Why" track. He put a message out there, and ppl bought it. And he got attention for it.Even Bill O'Reilly spoke on it. That tells me music can still reach ppl. Just up to the ppl making the music to put their message out there.

Nowadays, songs like 'why' cant reach as much people as "window shopper". The rap game is now about gettin that money at any means possible.

that had to do with all of the gangster rappers, they all contributed to that especially the west coast because thats what they were all about. The difference between 2pac though was 2pac was actually trying to get a message out there and he would give back to his comunity and try to send a message out there for the people who were in the slums. Sure 2pac put out songs like, toss it up, americas most wanted etc but at the same time he put out songs like, smile and brendas got a baby.

2pac blended the rap of his time and through in social issues and spoke about them articulately. I mean he wasnt a dumb ass like most of the rappers out there 2pac was an educated perseon went to art schools etc. Biggy on the other hand I think was the big contribution along with the other cali rappers that sent it all in a downward spiral. He threw new york mainstream in the gutter and when he died Jay Z picked it up and ran with it.

Now because of biggys influence you have those 50 cents floating around.

This is the difference between MC'ing and Rap -
Rappers spit rhymes that are mostly illegal,
MC’s spit rhymes to uplift they people.
Peace, love, unity, and Havin’ fun, these are the lyrics of KRS One

The worst??? anyone that falls under the word rappers (according to KRS1 definition).

thread should be changed to

"when was the last time you heard a good rapper since 2pac,biggie,nas,rundmc,kool moe dee, and beastie boys" cuz everything after these cats is almost pure garbage.. with the exception of a few, few, few ppl..

BTW can someone please shoot puffy, akon, pitbill, the lafy tafy suck nut crew and por favor can someone shit in bow wow, (all regeaton singers), g-uNOT, and the ying yang twins cereal bowl already so they can get fecal poison and just die....jaaaaaaaaah.. oh and defenitely someone needs to cockslap ja-rule..

Cockslap 50 twice please.make it 3.hundred. And basically NOTHING commercial/albumwise is good these days. I just stay bumping mixtapes. Its like mixtapes are albums and albums have become the mixtapes these days. It's like Jae Millz said on a mixtape i was listening to today.

" You might consider them ( LL Cool J, Furious 5, RUN DMC, etc., etc.) old school. I consider them the teachers and professors of this shit." They FORGOT more hip-hop than most of these new artists out will ever learn.

99% of all the so called rapper out there dont rap for sheit. They all coming out w softy rap/love joints or club bangers. It's all about entertaining the crowd and getting radio play, nothing hardcore. examp: 50cent oh buff hardcore gangsta shot 100 times w.e and comes out w a joint in the club . Rap is the new trend for any1 w a sick beat and stupid ass words.

Old shit was hot ..snoop (old stuff), 2pac,biggie,pun,nas,jayz,ll,beastie boys, run dmc lol

What is considered a "real" hip hop head?
real deals with self expression not self indulgence, which is waht all the rappers first listed rap about
