my boy bought a 36' USMI ex-military boat that we have been de rigging for a rebuild for civilian use.

i have a ton of pics but need to get them in order and uploaded. i'll post them up when i have a chance.

this is a 36' composite kevlar boat with twin cat turbo diesels for a total of over 900hp.

unfortunately they can not sell them to the public with the higher output cats in them. so he picked it up with no motors.

we have been working on this thing for two weeks. its alomost stripped completely.

the plans are to convert it from inboard/outboard to outboard with 3-300's for a total of 900 hp.

the hull is about 2 nches thick of kevlar, you can run it ashore and not think twice about it.

this boat came with mounts for a 50 caliber in the front and one in the rear. we've found many different spent rounds inside this boat.

heres some more info on the boat you can find on USMI

http://www.usmi.com/11meterNSWRIB.htm

just to give you an idea we have removed about 400 lbs of wiring alone from this thing and still have some left in it.

i'll post pics up when i get them organized

this is not your average boat. this thing is going to be a hot rod on water.

Those RIBs are badass.
I got boarded by a C.G. version of one, it had an aluminum pilot house with A/C and full suspension seats. Those fgts didn't want to race me though.

yea dope as shit but try calling USMI for informaqtion on them to figure out how to work with it and all they tell you is that its classified.

we had to remove the jet drives on it which is half inch thick aluminum glued to the hull with 5200 adhesive. we called them and they said its not servicable and not meant to be removed. they also said they are the only ones that can remove them and that it would rip a chunk of the kevlar off with it.

little did they know that con paciencia y saliva we were able to remove them without even getting a piece of gel coating off of the hull.

Pics?

i have pics from 2 different phones and a digital camera so i'd like to upload them all so i can post them in the order of de-rigging. i took the day off so hopefully i can have them on my photobucket account by tonight.

A jack & constant pressure pulling on it for a couple of days will rip 5200 off. Thats how I remove engine brackets and consoles.

we did something similar. we just displaced it evenly throught out the jet drives and we removed them both in a matter of hours, spotless and perfect.

is it safe to say you were on a boat?

its funny cause i couldve been on the keys with the fam enjoying the ocean on a non-parked boat and still i told folks i was out on the boat this weekend... even though it was dry docked and i was roasting on it trying to work.

Lol I have a ton of 5200 that shit is the funk

yea that shit is the funk when you are putting shit together but taking it apart and having to remove it or seperate some heavy duty shit thats coated in it is not fun. actually it can be quite devastating when you have tons of pressure on it. "extremely careful" was our middle name that day or as we were saying "walking on eggshells" was our middle name. its not cheap replacing that hull or those jet drives and we are priceless so slow and steady won that race.

jet drives installed and removed. the only things i dont have pics of is on the inside of the hull where the jet drives go is overflowed with hydralic systems, water tanks, electric bilge pumps, manual bilge pumps, so much shit you could barely see the bottom of the hull much less get to the bolts fastening them to the hull. we had to remove all that cause it wasnt going to be used and becasue we had to get to the jet drives.

these jet drives were manufactered by rolls royce

most 3126 marine engine serial numbers begin with “1ZJ” and fgt degree is talking about putting a 2JZ in it. Close enough to be ironic

it seems to be a popluar styl engine. i know i used to see that engine or variants of it on the big rigs as well.

actually if im correct my dads big rig i sold when he passed away had a 31XX cat inline 6 turbo on it as well.

great motors bug money to have to replace internal parts like the crank and so on.
