View Full Version : GEEK HELP: FTP ACCESS issue
ok for those geeks out there that know a good bit about this stuff I need some help
hit me on AIM or Yahoo please!
For some stupid reason my computer will not allow me to access any FTP accounts. I don't get it! I have gone into the firewall setting and made sure that port 21 is allowed for ftp transfers as well as have made sure that the programs that I use for FTP are allowed to do what they are supposed to do through the firewall.
my computer recently autodownloaded several windows updates, I don't think that this is the issue but it's possible.
I have tried several other routs to resolve this issue. Your help in this matter would be very appreciated.

are you running windows xp home or pro? I don't think there is a program stopping it, rather being a firewall or something. You gotta make sure the auto download updates the right files.

checked the firewall already, can't seem to find any problems that would restrict it.
I am running windows xp home edition, and yes it's downloading the right stuff.

Sometimes, a simple restart cures everything. :lawl:
Sometimes, a simple restart cures everything. :lawl:except the restart didn't do it. I had to of changed something and not realized it. I can't remember now, I played with all the settings and then went back in and changed them to what I know they should be and now it all works. who knows.

If it was on the FTP program, it you could've changed the transfer mode, from Active to Passive. That usually works well, with firewalled connections.
