Me, 05 3.5 SE(V6) VS. 07 Stock Monte Carlo SS(V8)

so i was coming home after dropping off my friends from playing shootin' some pool, when i saw a monte carlo ss. so i decided hey what the hell it was on the way home anyway. so the guy asks me if i want to run and i said sure let's turn and such n such street. so i stopped in the corner and stayed in first forcing a roll :) so i got it, we rolled from 20 mph i honked 3 times and went at it. i was surprised i was in front, 1st, 2nd, 3rd & finally 4th between 105-110 i shut down, he shut down and i was the victor by a quarter of a car. thank god it was a highway cuz he was creeping up. we pulled over a backroad and he invited me to some meet next week to run me again, this time he said, from a dig. so i told him i would pass by. so V6>V8 :owned: from a roll. part 2 from a dig will come if i see him there next week, going to be a different story from the dig:(

Hey wait a min...Isn't there a program that allows VQ owners to mess with their ecu? Adjust the cam timing, etc...You should get that taken care of before next week. But nice kill.

Hey wait a min...Isn't there a program that allows VQ owners to mess with their ecu? Adjust the cam timing, etc...You should get that taken care of before next week. But nice kill.

well i have the SAFC-2 to adjust the air and fuel. but there is the greddy e-manage ultimate that pretty much is almost limitless in what you can do.

it's not that i dont know how to launch, it's that i figured since he had more tq and whp, he'd have an advantage. but we'll see. either way, i beat him in a grocery getter :smile:

On the Dig, High Rev That shit Yo. Around 4 or 5 grand. & Practice see what works.
( our altis are beasts on torque so were better on rolls than from digs..unless you have the suspension. I was spanking people from rolls friday night, due to my inexperience on digs. I got spanked by a Ponti Grand Prix.. dont know if it was a gt or not. :(
but ill be ready for him next time. Im not racing till i get my super mods in my car *evil laugh*

ps. Doesnt it feel good bieng the underdog and spankin people? I love it when ppl are like.. why are you gonna hook up an alti?? anyhow.. tito.. whens the next challenge goin down?

I launch @ 4 maybe 4.5k depending on the road, you motor is way torquier, so I dunno if 4-5k is such a great Idea... I know the maxima would spin SOME from a dig with an auto, so I can imagine droping the clutch @ 4/5k...

4-5k rpms??

id say between 2.5-3k ,...if i launch at 4-5k ill just sit there spinning.

i know the alty is heavier but 3k should be fine.

I did between 3 & 4 at some stops today, just to check what i was saying.. and i only squeeked. ill do 4 and 5 on the way to work.

Edit> stick with 3 and 4. i did it, and it works better that way, peeled out a little more than you want inbetween 4 and 5

I know theres pleanty of mods .. But I told myself I wasnt going to hooked this ride up because every other Nissan or any car I have spent a lump some of money..

I was acutally going to TT the Maxima when I got it.. then I calmed myself down.
