View Full Version : If you have an exhaust leak why do you try to race?

Last night I'm minding my own business on us41 going to walmart and the yot was running oddly well... Well I was doing 54 in a 45 and passed a fullsize c/k series truck with a nasty exhaust leak....
We endup at a light, and because I dislike hearing BANGBANGBANGBANGBANG right next to me I punch it when it goes green. For whatever reason he does too....now most c/k gassers have a 5.7 or a 7.4...not the 4.3...lol
Well needless to say when I heard him punch it, I pushed mine to the floor and proceed to pull at the top of 1st and agian at the top of 2nd. We have to cut it short at the next red light. That next light saw the same results - I pull on him off the line then at the top of every gear all the way to 70. I get off then he does....he pulls along side, wont look at me, but is flogging the throttle. wtf?
2-0 for the yota...lol
So at this point we're in a HEAVILY patrolled area by the local LEO's inside of 3 miles from their D1, so I'm done racing.... We come to a 3rd light and that gut feeling is there even more so I loudly say "Im done." Neckboy doesnt even look over. Then punches it and takes off. I was laughing hysterically the whole time too...lol
That poor 4.3L (180hp/220tq) had to be in serious disrepair, but what fukktard in their right mind would race a v6 fullsize in that bad of disrepair?

you just answered your own question....if you dont like hearing it put your window up or let him go first at the light or go faster but dont punch it....the real question should be "why pick races with cars with exhaust leaks?" :rolleyes:

Picking a race would be "hey focker wanna run?" No. Punching it does not consitute 'picking a race' and in my case is how one gets going faster :rolleyes: Not everyone has a small block with open pipes that's loud as piss...
In any event he lost, he lost poorly, he should have beaten me, and to that end i found it funny as hell.

keeping my 4 banger under 3500 and lots of highway miles gives me a little under 22mpg. im usually crusing in 6th anyways.
i dont see how a 5.7l can get that many miles.
but, ill take your word for it.

I beg to differ. I punch it from every light all the freaking time, whether someone is there or not and whether I want to race someone or not. Probably where the phrase "lead footed mental patient" came from.

So you COULD get better than 20 but let's be honest, in acutality you don't. For the way most LS1 owners drive I'd say 20mpg overall (average city and highway)is a fairly forgiving number. If you're gonna quivel over semantics like a little dick then you might as well get your shit right.

everyone knows with a car you dont get the same mpg per every tank....but i do get closer to 24 then 20....and i am stock....it just has a miss so it idles alittle funny :dunno:

cause i use to drink gas cause i would be on it alot....it was a new car and i liked to give it gas.....now that i know my pockets dont have a endless supply of money i tend to sip gas and be easy on the pedal. its a damn simley face yani they dont mean ne thing i just like to use em cause they are cute :naughty:
